Akemi Malgonkar
Hello, my name is Akemi D Malgonkar. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist. I have worked mainly with children but also some adults and adolescents for 19 years. I presently only work with adults and adolescents 16 years and older.
I specialize in the fields of Trauma, Dissociative disorders, Anxiety, Depression as well as Grief. I believe in patterns and stories. Once a pattern is discovered, I help people break them with the right stories. In cases of trauma or disassociation disorders, I decondition these patterns to help people get unstuck and with the right story to start the healing process. I also work with grief that does not only involve death but loss in many other ways. I help people grieve with the right story and not confuse grief with depression. I have discovered through my years of practice that anxiety and depression warp the brain with specific propaganda. Being aware of these anxious and depressing explanations helps my clients to realize who the real culprit is and what the real story should be.
We are manufacturers of stories and many times we run with the wrong story for many reasons. As somebody once said wisely; Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional. So, I help my patients to discover the right story by reframing and thinking more flexibly so that healing can take place and the pain becomes bearable and seasoned with hope. My goal in therapy is to bring people back home with the right story, free from the constraints of trauma, anxiety and depression and to start their healing process going forward.
